What Do Chinese Students Really Care About? We Surveyed 1,148 Students to Find Out.
Of the 2,000 students that attended our October college fairs in tier 2 and 3 cities in China, we surveyed 1,148 students about their college search process. Find out what they had to say!
53% of students said that college fairs and visits to their schools were among their top 3 ways of getting information about overseas universities. Students find college fairs and school visits to be the single most reliable source of information about studying overseas, followed by advice from their in-school counselors.
Of the students attending Sunrise's tours, a school's location and climate were ranked as the bottom 2 factors influencing their decision to go. Only 5% and 7% of students listed location and climate as the most important factors.
Students care about the ranking of the program they're applying to and quality of campus life more than the university's US News overall ranking. A whopping 43% percent of students ranked these 2 considerations as most important among 8 other criteria. Consequently, Sunrise's tours of tier 2 and 3 cities offer a unique opportunity for universities that struggle with overall ranking to highlight certain programs and majors that are world-class to prospective students.
